Absentmindedness

Description: Your memory is inconsistent.
Gameplay: You must succeed on a Mana roll (TN=4) to remember something important.

Common situational modifiers that can add or subtract levels to overcome your Absentmindedness:

  • Time since given the task
  • Amount of distraction

Harold has Absentmindedness=4 and Mana=6. He has to meet a potential employer at noon at the Swan and Basket pub. He made the appointment several days ago, but hasn't done much since then. Due to the length of time Harold has had to remember the information, the GM assigns two penalty levels to Harold's Absentmindedness (now=6). Harold rolls 6 dice for his Mana and gets just 2 Ss. Since he needed 7 Ss to avoid failure, he failed his roll by 5 Ss. The GM judges that failing by this many successes means that not only did Harold forget the day and time of the meeting, but he actually "remembered" the incorrect location. It seems that there's an excellent chance that Harold will miss his appointment.
